New CoC BinViewer

CoC BinViewer is a new tool to enable you to view OFP binary files. This is a tool for serious OFP programmers. At the CoC it is used for beta testing and finding bugs. We have used it to investigate the OFP save game bug that can occur with ultra large, ultra complex missions. We found this bug while pushing OFP to the edge of its limits with battalion size battles.

For a real description of how addon makers can use here is something that Dinger wrote in a reply to Former CoC Luminary Uiox on the official OFP Forums:

'Internally at the CoC, we've benefited enormously from having access to beta versions of binviewer. For me, the strongest feature of it has been the ability to decrypt the save.fps and autosave.fps.  I've used the export variable values extensively in development of the artillery: we would set up a test firing range, fill up an array with values and savegame, then use binviewer to export the array to an .sqf file. (where denoir would then grab the values and teach them to a neural net).
For debugging, it's been invaluable, especially for debugging scripts in addons late in the development process.

Consider the following:
I'm testing UA 1.1.  We're late in the process, so everything has been rolled into an addon -- no scripts in the mission folder. Worse, I'm testing online with a dedicated server and 3 other players.  50 minutes in, for no apparent reason, the M109 howitzers stop responding to requests.  The command scripts are on the (ded) server. With a regular console, like VB's, I can get the values of a few global variables pertaining to that unit.  With a CoC_NS based console, I can ask for each of the global variables on the server, but I'm still stabbing in the dark.

Or

I can  send a savegame command to the server, then download the autosave.fps file, and run it through binviewer. That will give me a complete dump of what OFP was doing at the time. I can see all the scripts that were running, at what line they were running, and what all the variable values -- global and local -- were. In other words, we now have the ability to do a complete dump of the ofp program.
Fortunately, Confucius was able to find the time to polish this product up to a level where it could be released to the OFP community.  Most people won't find much of a use for it, and I'm guessing won't give a damn about it.
Those who will find it useful are those who make extensive use of scripting, and build complicated scripted systems.'

[New!] CoC Cruise missiles Released

Hello! the latest addition to the CoC arsenal is the CoC Cruise Missile with war heads from an Air Burst HE, a Cluster Bomb Dispenser and even a One Kiloton Nuke.

[New!] CoC Unified Artillery moving to version 1.1

Hi all just to let you know we are progressing on version 1.1 of the UA and are preparing to move to beta testing. More news at our forum ;-)

[New!]PMC Command Campaign with UA Has now moved to official Beta. Give it a try; to know what the CE and UA combined with the best BAS Addons looks like in a full blown War.

[New!]Project UK Forces New Site is now up

One of our co-conspirators in CoC UA; Project UK Forces has got their new site up and running. They are also working on an AS 90 and the permanent skins for the MLRS (They were kindly released with temporary skins so we could get UA out to the public early :-) ) They also intend to produce the full range of modern UK military kit including soldiers tanks Paratroopers Marines and Infantry are almost complete.. Hop over to their site to see how it all looks.

[New!]The first ever campaign to use both CE and UA and BAS units is already out by Snake Man the

[New!] CoC Unified Artillery available now

Well the team at CoC along with BAS, DKM, UK Forces and of course SEB has done it now OFP has real indirect fire in game. So don't bother to read this just go and download it. Play the intro game and you will be slinging shells, mortars and MLRS rockets around like confetti.

The whole system is expandable so expect to see a vast range of other artillery pieces being linked to it. As well as some extra pretty presents from the CoC team ;-)

The undertaking has been vast though. with 4 months in alpha and beta testing alone. Your special thanks Should go to Dinger, Jostapo, Denoir, BN880 and the rest of the team at the CoC along with selectthis, gen. carnage , jonno, and Frandsen and others from

We hope you enjoy the teams work

Kind Regards Walker

CoC Combat Divers

The Chain of Command is proud to announce the release of V1 of the CoC Combat divers and Combat divers Test mission. After masses of work by Matthijs and the rest of the team the first CoCOSS addon is now here. The CoC is dedicated to producing those game addons and modifications that have so far eluded community so this will is not the last swimming addon we will be producing but because CoCOSS is an open standard we hope other MODs will be producing there own addons based on the system. Please Note The LAR VII is a rebreather and leaves no tell tale bubbles on the surface. In order to do this it is based on the car simulation and consequently has some AI problems ( it fears water ) so we will also be releasing a scuba system based on the APC simulation this has no AI problems but leaves a trail of bubbles on the surface.

CoC Torpedoes v 1.0 Released

The Chain of command is proud to announce the release of Denoir's CoC Torpedoes project. At last we have working torpedoes in OFP. I for one am looking forward to them being added to Colonel Klink's Submarines and the host of new ships that are coming out. Who could deny the pleasure blowing up one the new Aircraft Carriers with a homing torpedo. We have not stopped there though. We hope you will enjoy our little present.

CoC Network Services

BN880 has started the ball rolling on CE3 MP development. COC Network Services (CoC NS) is a Client and Server based utility for messaging in OFP. CoC NS has been an internal product for the CoC for some time. It has been part of the test bed in several CoC projects with other OFP MOD developers some of which you will be seeing soon ;-)

Now that it is more stable we are happy to release it to the community. It will be of interest to the the more technical out there. It is a tool to develop other products with and to conduct research and testing. It will be of most interest to MODs like RTS and CTI but we are sure the creative minds of the OFP community will find many other uses for it.

Wargamer Review of The Command Engine

www.wargamer.com Has reviewed the Command Engine here is a excerpt.

"Operation Flashpoint is such a comprehensive game to begin with; so the need for a mod this deep and complex was never really there. However, this mod is most certainly worth the space on any hard drive. A few weapon and mission mods thrown in unison with Chain of Command can create a game play style and feel entirely unique from the original game that was opened up the day it came in the mail."

See the whole review here.

As they pointed out our downloads section has not been up to scratch we hope that our new Downloads area will go some of the way to resolving this, and that CE3 will be an Addons At Ease compatible MOD allowing installation of all of the CE via the BIS installer.

MLRS  in Conjunction with Project UKF

The CoC and Project UKF are in a joint venture to produce the first true indirect artillery weapon in OFP It takes the form of the famous Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Check the MLRS page for more info

The Chain of Command-team is always scanning the community for new members and associates. This has resulted in the addition of three new members:

bulletsnYpir OFPEC luminary and maker of too many great scripts to be mentioned here. He will be assessing some of the work at CoC for use as a tactical trainer.
bulletBagel, creator of the infamous Vietnam based 'Tour of duty'-mission (as seen in the OFPEC forums).
bulletMatthijs, who has been involved with us for some time now as beta-tester and associate working on add-ons particularly our Divers project.

We are very pleased to welcome them as members of our team and wish them good luck with future CoC projects.

CoC Torpedoes under construction

We at the Chain of Command are pleased to inform you that we are working on a torpedo pack for OFP. The addon will be usable by standard OFP ships and planes. To find out more and download the movie Click here!

Present and former military personnel

Of interest to present and former military personnel there is now a Clan or community of active duty and veteran service members out to take advantage of OFP's combined arms simulation capabilities.

They don't play death matches or Capture the Flag. They are only interested in the potential for the OFP Engine to test real war-fighting tactics, strategies and doctrine, force on force.

As this is more than your average gamer can appreciate. This group is only open to those able to establish that they are, or have been, a member of the armed services.

Following the latest release of CE2 the CoC-team have started the development of a complete new design of the Command Engine.

Featuring multiplayer-capabilities, enhanced AI opponents and much, much more new ideas this will definitely be the most powerful version ever. Check out our new "Development"-section where the developers keep you posted on their work.

The OFP Editing Center (OFPEC) has begun supporting and mirroring the Command Engine core files! For those of you from Venus, OFPEC is a central scripting resource for Operation Flashpoint where many of the CoC team learned to script, and you will find it regularly mentioned in the readme files of not just the CoC, but most other Operation Flashpoint modders. The main boon to us is less worries about overrunning our bandwidth limits and not being able provide all our loyal followers the latest Command Engine goodies. Add to that the kudos of being accepted by OFPEC; as being up to their rigorous standards and you see why we are so proud to be associated with OFPEC.

The Chain Of Command is happy to announce the release of the single click and dialogue version of the Command Engine. Thanks to Operation Flashpoint™ Creators Bohemia Interactive Studios

Spinor and the rest of the CoC team have created a version of the CE with no more double click and return its all point and click for you very own war. Just go to our forum to download it all the battle school missions are updated and some new missions are due in the next week so keep popping in.

The Chain Of Command Presents the CoC Mines Pack. A set of anti personnel mines including the long awaited Claymore with Clacker, the Bouncing Betty pop up squad destroying mine and possibly the most frightening weapon to hit OFP the awesome MON 200 as well as many others all lovingly modeled by Jostapo and and fully scripted by Dinger. Oh and did we mention they work in MP ;-)
